The Institute of Architectural Glazing
The architectural glazing and facades sector has a talent problem that recruitment alone cannot solve. There are not enough people coming into the industry with the right knowledge, the right exposure, and the right understanding of what a career here can look like.
The Institute of Architectural Glazing was founded to change that.
Launched in 2025 and developed over several years prior, the IAG was created by David Lonergan alongside founding members William Sharman, Daniel Rickman, Simon Culmer and James Philpot. Four respected names from across the sector who shared the same belief: that if this industry wants better talent, it needs to create a visible, structured pathway from education into the profession.
The IAG does exactly that. Through careers events, industry engagement and foundational education initiatives, we are building the bridge between higher education and the glazing and facades sector that has never existed before.
The proof of concept is already there.
Ines attended the IAG London Careers Festival, won a placement at Structura, and is now a full time Junior Designer there. That is one story. There will be many more.

The Envelope Collective
The glazing, facades and fenestration sector is full of exceptional people. But not enough of them come from enough different backgrounds. Too many talented individuals never find their way in because the door was never opened for them.
The Envelope Collective exists to open that door.
Founded to champion underrepresented groups across construction and the built environment, The Envelope Collective is a growing community built around honest conversation, genuine connection and practical action. Not performative inclusion. Real change.
With over 700 followers, six events and 155 attendees across its programme, the community is growing fast and the conversations happening inside it are exactly the ones the industry needs to be having.
The next event is a Book Club on 18th June featuring Faye Allen, author of Building Women, a book that explores the realities of working in construction, the progress being made and the challenges that remain. Everyone is welcome.
The strongest teams are built from the widest talent pool. That is not a diversity statement. That is a commercial reality.
